Male-male competition in Rhino Beetles

£55.00

This frame, demonstrating the competitive fighting behaviour in male Rhino Beetles, has been hand set in our Cheshire based studio and mounted in a museum quality deep box frame with fixtures for easy wall hanging.

Sexual selection is a mode of natural selection in which certain traits evolve as they grant possessors of those traits greater success in obtaining a mate. Intrasexual selection is a mechanism by which members of the same sex (usually males) compete against each other for reproductive access to members of the opposite sex. Intrasexual selection often favours the adaption of larger size, strength and weaponry in the competing sex, as reproductive fitness is dependant on an individuals ability to outcompete rivals in direct encounters.

The frame is 26 x 26 x 6 cm and made from premium quality acrylic. Each specimen is mounted on a 300 GSM card stock background which includes both the scientific and common name of the insect printed below. The frame can either be self standing or mounted using the invisible wall bracket.

All of our specimens are ethically sourced from conservation projects around the world and help to support local communities and protect natural habitats.

Included with all of our insects is a copy of our ethos, which shows how your investment in our brand is directly helping to protect the environment against habitat destruction and the increasing loss of biodiversity across the globe. To learn more go to Our Ethos page.

The picture shown is an example of the quality that you can expect to receive. Please be aware that, as our products are 100% authentic and natural, they are subject to variation.
